The simple seductive form of the Ginevra crystal decanter creates an object of great beuty, with its shape reflecting the luxury of its purpose: the art of drinking. But it is also remarkable in that it is the final piece in the tableware range designed by Ettore Sottsass for Alessi, a range that spans four decades and represents so many of the designer’s innovative, often radical and always influential ideas. The Ginevra decander and the accompanying glass range were originally introduced by Alessi in 1996, but production had been fraught with difficulties and high costs.
